In the middle of this year, Loewe will release the long-awaited klang bar5 mr — so soon. The soundbar weighs in at 6.5 kilos and looks demure but modern in its basalt gray appearance. The klang bar 5mr is – as already mentioned – a 5.1.2 sound system that supports the 3D audio formats Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and DTS Virtual:X. The system can even be expanded wirelessly to 7.1.2. Apple AirPlay 2 and Chromecast are mandatory, and DTS Play-Fi is also integrated. Also included is the wireless subwoofer klang sub5, which should not be left out. Not only because it is round, but also because it cleverly rounds off the system and provides the necessary thunder.
But now we have to take a closer look at DTS because Loewe’s collaboration to this end is certainly something special. DTS is the leading provider of audio, picture, and sensor technology. The fact that Loewe can now be associated with the DTS Play-Fi wireless audio ecosystem means lossless and wireless music streaming for you. And you can do this in different rooms by having DTS Play-Fi send the audio files of mobile devices to the speakers. Besides streaming, you can look forward to surround sound, HiRes 24bit/192 kHz support, and also multi-room.
When it comes to connections, the klang bar5 mr offers you Bluetooth 4.2, three times HDMI (one interface supports eARC), S/PDIF, USB, and a 3.5 mm jack. Since Play-Fi works via WLAN, you don’t need much else, either. Even 4K passthrough, Dolby Vision and HDR10+ pose no problems for the klang bar5 mr, so excellent TV evenings with the best possible audio experience can already be planned.
