LG is Stiftung Warentest’s 2021 Winner

The 12/2021 issue of Stiftung Warentest evaluated 30 of the best 96 TVs of the year. The manufacturer with the smile in its logo was particularly convincing in all categories.

Televisions from the five major suppliers — LG, Samsung, Sony, Panasonic, and Philips — were evaluated in the categories of picture, sound, handling, versatility, and environmental characteristics. The TVs were divided into three size categories: Giant TVs with a 65-inch screen diagonal, large TVs with a 55-inch screen diagonal, and medium-sized TVs between 48 and 50 inches.

LG’s G19LA OLED TV emerged as the test winner in both the 55 and 65-inch categories. In the areas of picture and sound, and versatility, both sets scored “very good.” The models of the G19LA series in the 65-inch (164 centimeters) and 55-inch (139 centimeters) versions were particularly convincing with their breathtakingly deep black, which they owe to their market-leading OLED technology. The “test” quality rating of “good (1.6)” speaks for itself and clearly shows who is currently leading the TV market. However, to be honest, it should be pointed out that their outstanding quality is also reflected, unfortunately, in their price. Our team member Peer explains why the price is justified in our previous video, in which he once again presents LG’s top model for you.

The test winner among the 50-inch OLED48C17LB also comes from LG.

Thus, the manufacturer is in first place in all sizes in the test. The latter comes first in the test among the medium-sized TVs with an overall score of “good (1.8)”. Even with its 48-inch (121 centimeters) screen diagonal, it manages to bring a cinematic feeling into the living room. Like the larger test winners, the device is convincing in its perfect black and rich colors in 4K.

Also worth mentioning is the result of the LG 50NANO809PA. At well under 1,000 euros, it is the cheapest TV evaluated by Stiftung Warentest. It achieved good sub-scores in almost all points and thus its “test” quality rating “good (2.1)”. It’s a clear price-performance winner, which shows that LG’s quality is not only determined by the price tag.

Final Thoughts
LG shows itself to be the absolute market leader with the G19LA series. The model is the test winner in two sizes. The manufacturer was also convincing with its mid-sized OLED48C17LB.
