DSD

Direct Stream Digital, an alternative digital coding method for audio signals.

The term Direct Stream Digital (DSD) was launched by Philips and Sony with the introduction of the Super Audio CD (SACD) in 1999. It refers to an alternative, digital encoding method for audio signals that does not use pulse code modulation (PCM) as usual, but instead uses delta-sigma modulation.
