Lange Nacht der Ohren 2016: 5th November 2016, 5pm until midnight

How the time passes: it's only just six weeks until the Lange Nacht der Ohren 2016, so time for our first announcement. This year, as always there will again be a wide-ranging program on current and timeless topics from the fields of Hi-Fi, home cinema and TV.

Lange Nacht der Ohren?

For all those who do not know the Lange Nacht der Ohren, here’s a brief summary of what’s going on: Since 2009 with some of our colleagues in Berlin, we’ve been opening our doors on the evening of the first day of November to offer a colourful bouquet of interesting demonstration systems and workshops as well as an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas with other music and technology enthusiasts. To make sure that you are a bit “wandering” in the truest sense of the word, we offer free shuttle buses, which pendulate at two round courses (Charlottenburg/Wilmersdorf and Kreuzberg) between all participating shops. Some impressions, especially on our program last year, can also be found here.

Our First Program Overview

HiFi

Let’s move along now to our plans for the Lange Nacht der Ohren 2016. As some of you certainly know, last November, with the energetic support of Ulf Soldan, we presented the then brand-new Bowers & Wilkins 800 D3 series. The B & W 800 D3, the flagship model of the series, was not yet available at the time. Meanwhile, the largest loudspeaker of the current 800 series has arrived in our performance and we will not let it take us to the sound of the Lange Nacht der Ohren.

In addition, the topic of streaming will take up some space this year: Olaf Steinert from MusicLine takes care of the ninth Lange Nacht der Ohren primarily for cultivated musical entertainment in our studios and, as it should be otherwise, is based on current and proven components of the British streaming specialists from Naim Audio. As an addition to this program, we show Cambridge Audio stereo systems and, in particular, demonstrate their mature network capabilities. In addition, we are pleased to welcome a new guest to our core theme: Christian Rechenbach is available for the whole evening for questions about the product range of the highly modern HiFi-shop Auralic.

As a counterpoint to our digital HiFi program, Audiotar Armin Kern, veteran veteran of Audio Trade, will be back on the track with some of Ortofon’s fine phono pickups. Richard Drees of AudioQuest also takes a look at the topic of HiFi power supply and presents the AudioQuest Niagara series. Similar to the comparisons of cables and digital-to-analog converters in the past years may be expected with clearly comprehensible sound enhancements.

Headphones

Also for our headphone studio we have some highlights to announce. So, in addition to our already highly desirable range of headphones, headphone amplifiers, DACs and mobile players with Focal Elear, Focal Utopia and AudioQuest NightOwl, three exciting headphone novelties await interested testers.

TV

In our TV department, this year’s focus is on OLED technology. The combination of the LG 65E6D and the powerful Spectra Soundbar VRA2 conveys impressively the synergy effects of a high-quality audio-video system. We also show the recently released Loewe picture 7 in conjunction with the Focal Dimension Soundbar, which has become even more attractive.

Home Cinema

Of course, our home cinema venues are open for you all night. We inform you about the state of things at Dolby Atmos, DTS: X and Auro 3D, show current AV receivers as well as the newest project technology and provide with selected demo material for atmospheric home cinema impressions. AV consultant Raphael Vogt, we were able to win again for our large garden cinema. There, we will use the new Epson EH-TW9300 to approach the new subject of HDR projection and to compare the traditional Blu-rays and Ultra HD Blu-rays with HDR content.
