Bowers & Wilkins’ New Zeppelin: Sound That Carries You Away

Anything from this British HiFi Maverick always warrants a post: Bowers & Wilkins' latest triumph is a new edition of their legendary zeppelin-shaped loudspeaker fittingly named Zeppelin.

Do you remember so-called “docking stations”? Yes, that’s right, they were those speakers with integrated connectivity for MP3 players — primarily IPods. In 2007, Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin, with its iconic design, was first introduced as such. Fourteen years and three generations later, the upgraded Zeppelin lands in the streaming age with even more detailed and dynamic sound in the form of a Bluetooth sound system with a revised design.

TITEL

With 240 watts across five drivers, Bowers & Wilkins’ unsurpassed expertise in speaker design comes to the fore. The new 150mm subwoofer is placed at the center of the speaker structure to provide a rich foundation. Optimized to avoid unwanted vibrations of the cabinet, it enables a pure and flexible bass reproduction. To the left and right of it, two 90 mm drivers form the midrange. They use the company’s proprietary Fixed Suspension Transducer (FST™) technology, just like the 800 Series Diamond models, among others. Completely shielded from vibrations, a double dome tweeter is mounted on the outer edge of each cabinet. These originally came from the award-winning 600 Series Anniversary Edition. The Zeppelin thus combines more or less a best-of of one of the best loudspeaker manufacturers in our range and beyond.

Final Thoughts

The Zeppelin from Bowers & Wilkins is not only a real eye-catcher but also a real multi-talent. By bringing together the sonic advantages of the noble manufacturer and combining them with a variety of attractive features at an absolutely fair price, it makes HiFi sideboard-ready and certainly cuts a fine figure in any home. There’s only one thing left to say, “Alexa, play Whole Lotta Love!”
