Just In: The Beosound Stage from Bang & Olufsen

Bang & Olufsen has long been known for its entertainment electronics. Characteristic for the high-end devices are primarily the appealing design and easy handling. This is also the case with the new Beosound Stage Soundbar, which is the Danish company's debut in the field.

At first glance, the flat design of the 110 cm long Beosound Stage sticks out. It’s available in a an classic wooden or a chic metal case. It is ideally mounted on the wall, but it can also be placed under the TV. The tweeters are mounted at an angle, so even when the soundbar is lying down, they radiate into the listening room and therefore do not restrict the stereo sound image.

With the corresponding B&O app, the sound of the stylish Soundbar can be further refined. In general, all functions are operated via the tablet or smartphone, as the Beosound Stage is not supplied with remote control. The only exception is the volume control, as this can be done via the TV remote control. It should be mentioned in passing that there is a separately available remote control called Beoremote One, which in combination with certain LG models can control both devices together.

Of course, the soundbar comes with the HDMI connection for the TV, that’s for sure. There is also an HDMI socket for connecting a Blu-ray player, for example. The soundbar is WLAN-capable and can be connected to AirPlay 2 and Google Chromecast and also has Bluetooth 4.2. A special highlight in this context is the soundbar’s integration into a multi-room system. That means: The model comes with everything you need without producing a nest of cables.

The Beosound Stage has four bass and mid-range drivers and three tweeters — all driven by a 50-watt amplifier. It will delight lovers* of movies and music alike. Vocals sound clear and the bass has a lot of pressure. The soundbar is even Dolby Atmos capable. At this point, however, you have to admit that there is still some room upstairs because it simply lacks the loudspeakers radiating to the ceiling. Nevertheless, it has enough power to do without an additional subwoofer.

All up, Bang & Olufsen’s Beosound Stage is a solid Soundbar that fully meets the sonic needs of both television and musical reproduction. With its design, it blends in wonderfully with the living room and is ideal for large TV sets in particular, and is also an excellent addition to the stereo system.
