A Soundbar For All Tastes: The Intensive LG SK10Y

A big sound stage and stunning bass are what you expect from a Soundbar, and with the SK10Y from LG, this idea becomes reality. Dolby Atmos is the icing on the cake of the Soundbar. So nothing stands in the way of home cinema enjoyment!

Technical Finesse and Sound

For the SK10Y soundbar, LG has teamed up with British audio pioneer MERIDIAN to produce a high-quality audio experience. The sound hits the ear in loud scenes but is just as clear as you want it to be. The model has several loudspeaker chassis that radiate forward and produce front, center and virtual surround sound. In addition, there are two other drivers that have found their position on the top of the sound bar and produce 5.1.2 sound. The sound bar is based on Dolby Atmos, but also on high-resolution audio. The sound experience spreads throughout the room and stereo content is reproduced in lossless quality up to 24 bit/192 kHz. This means that music fans can also enjoy the sound bar.

Since high-quality 4K content now occupies a relevant position in streaming services, modern TV sets, and Blu-rays, the SK10Y has been equipped with 4K pass through. Thus the sound is transmitted without impairing the quality of the picture. This requires support for HDCP 2.2. The result is sharp images that provide an appropriate sound experience.

The SK10Y is also based on Chromecast technology. This makes it easy to stream to the soundbar from your own smart devices or from other devices that have Google Assistant. Your own music can be played in any room in the house where there is also a Google Assistant-enabled device.

Aesthetics and Operation

With 144 centimeters and 20 kg, the soundbar is not exactly small, but optically it also fits perfectly to large, modern flat-screen TVs. As an insider tip, an optional adapter set for the soundbar can be purchased, with which it can be used as a stand for LG televisions. But of course, it also goes very well with other TV sets and can be wall-mounted if required.

The sound bar is supplied with two HDMI sockets, an optical digital input, and an analog jack input. The connection between TV and soundbar is made via the HDMI out the connection. Communication with the home network is also quickly established via WLAN or Ethernet cable.

Of course, the SK10Y comes with its own remote control. Conveniently, this does not necessarily have to be used, as the device can also be controlled via the existing TV remote control. This speaks for the high comfort of the soundbar. In addition, it can be controlled via a loudspeaker equipped with Google Assistant. Once both devices have been connected, the volume can be adjusted via voice control and music can be played in no time at all.

Conclusion

Dolby Atmos and state-of-the-art video technology make the LG SK10Y an excellent addition to the home cinema experience. The sound bar can be extended with rear speakers to optimize the surround sound, but even without them the enormous sound impresses and fills the room. The appealing design is an absolute bonus, thanks to which the soundbar fits perfectly into any room. So watching movies is a real pleasure!
